Day 1 – 21 Day Fast

Here we go…the journey begins. I am so excited to be with God. And I’m also looking forward to what He is going to do in each of you. This is our 5th year for our 21 day fast. It has been incredible what we have seen God do in our lives because of this great discipline. I really believe that the best way to start a new year is with fasting.

I know you will enter this day with much excitement but also with some anxiety. For those that are new to this discipline – I want to encourage you to stay in the word and with God. These first couple of days will be trying -for all of us. But it is so encouraging to know that we are doing this together – and we are holding each other up in prayer. There’s a line of song that keeps going over in my mind as I enter this fast…..”when praise demands a sacrifice, I’ll worship even then”. Fasting is hard and it is a huge sacrifice – but – the rewards will out way all of that!!!! Please know that I will be thinking of you and praying for you today on this first day with God!

“This is the kind of fast day I’m after: to break the chains of injustice, get rid of exploitation in the workplace, free the oppressed, cancel debts. What I’m interested in seeing you do is: sharing your food with the hungry, inviting the homeless poor into your homes, putting clothes on the shivering ill-clad, being available to your own families. Do this and the lights will turn on, and your lives will turn around at once. Your righteousness will pave your way. The God of glory will secure your passage. Then when you pray, God will answer. You’ll call out for help and I’ll say, “Here I Am.”
